Hello everyone! Hope that you had a great day today...considering the weather.

I really don't like smoky days. 😑 Look at this photo I took of the smoke plume. Can you believe how bad it is? Underneath all that smoke is meant to be sunny weather!

Weather aside, I did make these adorable apple roses. Apple roses are apples, filled with cinnamon/nutmeg sugar and phyllo or puff pastry.

Okay, so the phyllo pastry can be hard to use. I didn't have puff pastry at hand so I used phyllo instead, but puff pastry will work.

They're both the same instructions so just choose what you want to do. Buy your phyllo or puff pastry ready-made for the easiest convenience. Both taste pretty similer and great!

These roses are so fun to make! It can be a messy job, but the end result is fantastic!
|Level: 👩🏽🍳👩🏽🍳|Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes|Serves: 5-6|
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
2 apples, sliced thinly so they're like half-moons
3 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon butter, melted - more for greasing
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
a pinch of nutmeg
1/4 cup mango jam (you can also use apricot)
1 roll of phyllo pastry
STEPS:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and grease a muffin tin with butter.
Toss your sliced apples, orange juice, and butter together in a bowl. Arrange your apples on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Take your filo or puff pastry and roll it into a 12x10" rectangle. Brush on mango jam and sprinkle your cinnamon/nutmeg sugar mixture all over it. Cut into 1" wide strips.
On the long side arrange your apples (around 5 of them) so they're overlapping slightly. Make sure they're on the very end of the long side. Take the opposite side and fold them over so they're sealing the apples. Roll starting from one of the small sides and put your apple roses into the muffin tins. Bake for 40 minutes.
Enjoy!
