Day 36: Bagels

I bet that you probably just get those bagged bagels from the grocery store right? Well, that's what I've have been doing until today, I found this recipe and made the best bagels I've ever eaten in my life. They were not only hot and crispy, but fresh out of the oven, which definitely makes a difference. Plus it only had 2 ingredients!

Ah yes, back to the old photos. The dough for me was super sticky. I just kept on adding flour until I felt it was right. If 3 1/2 cups of flour seems either to much or to little you can always eyeball it.

When you cut it into 5 sections, and roll it up you can add some extra flour and it will be a lot easier.

Poke a hole and season with poppy seeds (I used white), sesame seeds, and so much more.

I cut open my bagel in half and spread peanut butter because we have no cream cheese currently.

One's missing. 😋🙄

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

3 1/2 cups self rising flour

2 cups yogurt

1 egg

a pinch of salt

1 teaspoon water

STEPS:

In a medium bowl stir together flour and yogurt. Then take out and knead for 5-10 minutes until the dough is not sticky and very smooth.

Cut into 8 pieces an roll in a ball and poke your thumb through the bagel. Stretch out, and you have a bagel!

Mix together egg, salt, and water and brush onto the bagels. Place onto baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Serve with anything from jam to peanut butter or even cream cheese.

Enjoy!
