Day 43: Naan

This dish is another recipe from my grandmother (Nani), and is so amazing! It's a simple recipe of naan tastes amazing, it's flaky and buttery and it's not that time consuming. If you don't have ghee then use melted butter.

After you made your main dough (which I totally forgot to take a photo of 🙄😥), make roll out 10 balls. Then, roll your dough up and put ghee (melted butter works to)! Bake and it's done!

Because we created so many layers in the naan, the naan tastes buttery AND flaky!

Serve this with anything you want!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 4 tsp sugar

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 4 tsp oil (I used olive, you could use anything relatively mild)

  • 1 cup* milk

  • butter + herbs for seasoning

  • Ghee (as much as you want, you mostly eyeball the ghee in this recipe)

STEPS:

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

Mix all the dry ingredients together, make a well and then add the oil and milk. Knead for a few minutes and make 10 balls.

Roll out, spread ghee/butter and roll. Add some more ghee on the top to seal the end, and roll out into a circle once more.

Bake for 6 minutes flipping the naans at 3 minutes. Serve with some more ghee or garlic butter.

Enjoy!
