Day 55: Cheese Scones

I first found this recipe at a camp I took a long time ago. I modified it, so I would have all the ingredients on hand. If you use sharp cheddar, don't put any salt!

Here is a video for reference!

I made 6 scones. You don't have to make it a triangle but that's just what I chose to do!

Bake the scones until they are brown on the bottom.

Eat them at breakfast, lunch, or even dinner! 😏

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder

  • 2 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese*

  • 1/2 green onion, chopped

  • 1/2 stick butter

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 2 eggs

STEPS:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F and grease a baking sheet.

Combine cream and 1 egg.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter and add the cheese and onion. Make a well in the center, and add the cream mixture in. Slowly knead until the dough becomes a disk. Cut into 6 triangles and place on a baking sheet. Brush with the egg wash*. Bake for 15 minutes.

Enjoy!
