Day 341: No-Knead Whole Wheat Bread

This is a rustic no-knead bread made with whole wheat flour! It's simple to make, and you can have a slice in less than three hours!

We are snowed in, so I can't get any new bread. I decided to bake some homemade whole wheat bread, and it is so so good!

What I love about this bread is that you don't need to knead it at all. Simply mix it with a spatula until it gets fully combined and then let it proof.

You can also add special flavors. I love cinnamon and raisin bread, so I used 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/2 cup raisins.

To know if your bread is done, tap the bottom of your baked bread. If it sounds hollow inside then it's cooked. Make sure to serve this easy bread warm, with plenty of butter!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 3/4 cups whole wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast

  • 11/4 cup hot water

STEPS:

  1. In a large bowl, mix all your ingredients with a spatula. Cover with a dishtowel and proof for 1 hour.

  2. Once your dough is halfway done proofing, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Add your dutch oven into the oven while it's still preheating.

  3. Once preheated and the bread has doubled in size, take the dutch oven out. Gently form the dough into a circle and place it on a sheet of parchment paper. Add the parchment paper into the dutch oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.

Enjoy!
