Week 35: Buckeye Brownies (Ohio)

Buckeye candies are peanut butter fudge dipped in chocolate so that a circle of the peanut butter is only visible.

Buckeye brownies won this week's poll, with the buckeye cake coming in second place. Vote for Oklahoma's state dessert for this week on my home page.

I've made the classic buckeye candies into a brownie bar, and they are so good. They taste just like buckeyes but are better for a larger dessert. :)

This recipe is perfect for potlucks or parties as it feeds quite a lot of people. My buckeye brownie recipe is actually quite easy because you don't have to make the brownie base from scratch. Just use a mix!

These brownies are one of the best you will ever have. They are chewy, with a touch of peanut butter. It is a peanut butter lover's dream come true!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 brownie mix

  • 1 cup peanut butter

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  • 3 cups chocolate chips, melted

STEPS:

  1. Mix and bake the brownies as the package directs in an 8x8-inch square pan.

  2. Cream the peanut butter, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy. Pour over the brownies. Spread the melted chocolate layer on top of the peanut butter filling and chill in the freezer for 30 minutes. Cut and serve!

Enjoy!
